BHOPAL : The Regional Museum of Natural History, Bhopal staged two street plays on the occasion of International Ozone Day on Saturday to make the people aware of the importance of ozone layer, ozone depleting substances and the harmful effects of ozone hole. The street play on “Save Ozone Layer” were performed in front of Top ‘N Town, New Market at and DB Mall by child artists of Jawahar Bal Bhawan, Bhopal under the direction of KG Trivedi.
Through the street plays, child artistes informed about the harmful effects of chemicals used in air conditioners, refrigerators, deodorants, snow sprays, fire extinguishers and pesticides; role of ozone layer in protecting the earth from harmful ultraviolet rays. Cancer, withering of plants, skin diseases and global warming are some of the harmful effects of ultraviolet rays.
Scientist-B of the Museum, Manik Lal Gupta made an appeal to avoid the use of the chemicals which depletes ozone layer.
