BHOPAL : Renowned social activist Swami Agnivesh on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his two-year term in the office has only made hollow promises and there has been no change in life of common people. He said he is disappointed regarding the state government stance in case of bonded labourers in the state.

Addressing a press conference Swami Agnivesh informed that he had staged a dharna in the month of February demanding the government attention towards bonded labourers living in 134 villages of eight districts in the state. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan assured him that he would take action into the matter, but till date nothing has been done to rescue the bonded labourers.

He claimed that the National Human Right Commission has considered the case of payment of paltry wages, but the state government is not paying attention to the report.

He claimed that according to law if a person is getting less wages, it is a kind of bonded labour situation.

The NDA government completed its two years, it has been claimed that under the Jan Dhan Yojna 22 crore accounts have been opened and on an average Rs 1,700 have been deposited in every account but the account holders have received only Rs 125 to Rs 180 in two years, he alleged.

He alleged that the BJP’s rule is destroying the fundamentals of the constitution. The Jharkhand chief minister has amended the Land Act meant for the scheduled tribes people according to which their land cannot be sold to non-tribal people. Shortly he will be going to Ranchi to protest the amendment.
