BHOPAL : Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is conducting a survey of shops to check if they are being run and owned by those who have been allotted the same or they have been illegally occupied.

A recent survey was conducted in Zone 9 only to ensure that the shops were being run by the real owners who were allotted these establishments and not by the ones who had either purchased it from the rightful owners or were running them on rent.

Notably, the corporation has over 5,000 shops in zones 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11.

The norms of the corporation do not allow the shops to be rented or sold.

There are reports of over 50 per cent of these shops either being occupied illegally or sold or rented out.

After the survey in Zone 9, the authorities are set to cancel the allotment of the shops found violating the rules.
