Bhopal: Former director of medical education Dr S C Tiwari and former joint director Narendra Mohan Tiwari, both accused by the CBI of committing a fraud in allotment of seats in private medical colleges in collusion with the management of the colleges, surrendered before the CBI court of ADJ D P Mishra on Wednesday. They were remanded in judicial custody.
The court rejected the bail application of former director of State Medico-Legal Institute Dr D K Satpathy, who was the director of LN Medical College when the scam was scripted. Satpathy’s counsel told the court that there was not a shred of evidence against Satpathy in the 4000-page charge-sheet filed by the CBI.
The court then sought the view of the CBI counsel, who said that Satpathy was a member of the admissions committee, which approved admissions of undeserving candidates and the related documents carry the signature of the doctor. After this, the court rejected the plea.
