Bhopal: Two women injured as lift falls down from 5th floor


BHOPAL: Two elderly women were injured after the lift they were in fell in the shaft from 5th floor in a 6-storey apartment in Surendra Residency Colony, under Shahpura police station on Sunday evening. One of the injured suffered a fracture in her leg while the other one sustained ligament injuries after the lift fell to the ground from.

As per police sources, Prabha Khatri and Rama Chaubey were in lift which developed technical snag because of which it crashed. Both the injured are of over 50 years of age. Khatri fractured her leg. Chaubey sustained ligament injuries. Both have been admitted to Fracture Hospital.

The incident triggered panic and sensation in the colony. All the local residents rushed to rescue. Immediately, police was informed.

Girija Colonisers developed the colony and installed four lifts. Local residents said that none of the lifts are approved by concerning authority. However, the colonisers refused to make any comment as he said that he was out of station. Police said that all the aspects and factors were taken into considered before filing the case.

SHO Jitendra Singh Patel said, “Both the injured have been admitted to Fracture Hospital. The incident occurred at around 4.15pm. We are considering all the facts to find that who is guilty before registering the cases. We are also taking statements of local residents of Surendra Residency. Process is on.”
