Bhopal: State Intelligence agencies focusing on Wani’s sleeper cells

State intelligence agencies after having already faced brunt of Students’ Islamic Movement of India ( SIMI), are leaving no stone unturned in tracing out the links of sympathisers of Hizbul Mujahideen’s activist Manaan Wani in MP after his encounter in Jammu and Kashmir.

Manaan had stayed in Bhopal for three days when he had come here to attend International conference of AISECT University (now Ravindra Nath Tagore University- RNTU) on March 15,2016. Many foreign delegates had attended the conference on environment. Police is also working to detect the connection of sleeping cells working under leadership of research scholar Manaan Wani. He completed his schooling from Sainik School and then pursued PhD in applied geology. However, just after the international conference, police learnt about his links with Hizbul Muzahideen and it was enough for state intelligent to be alert.

But after his encounter on Thursday, intelligence is looking in to the Mannan’s its network in the state. Dr Santosh Chaubey, chancellor of AISECT, said, “Felicitation of scholars in international conference is normal thing and it has nothing to do with other links. Manaan Wani participated in international conference in capacity of research scholars of one of prestigious university and read out his papers. It is true that AISECT had organsied the international seminar but AISECT has nothing to do with his other links as AISECT had invited him just because Manaan was research scholar of AMU. It is really shocking that research scholar has links with terrorist outfit in the country.”
