Bhopal: Seven persons have complained of a fraud on Friday in which they were duped collectively to the tune of Rs 45 lakh. Complainants Shubham Khare, Dinesh Mohite, Anil Balerao, Kapil Kumar Tiwari, Subhash Likhitkar, Avinash Shakya and Susheel Shrivastav reported that a person Harpal Singh who worked with one of them in Belex Logistics Company in Indrapuri area used to meet them in a café there. When they started meeting him frequently, Singh told them about his contacts and that he could procure them franchisee of an international retail giant Alibaba Express, in Rs 45 lakh.
They also had a friend Shantanu Shrivastav, brother of a woman cop in Bhopal. Shantanu also insisted them to give him money and that he too would contribute to it. However, when one month passed and nothing happened they started asking their money back but Singh had fled Bhopal by then. His phone was also not reachable by then.
This time as they alleged, the woman cop asked them to have patience and that she would ensure the recovery. When time further passed and nothing happened they decided to approach the police but the cop allegedly dissuaded them and asked them to wait.
Fed up of delay, they reached Govindpura police station where they were allegedly asked to contact cyber crime after which they met top police officials and informed about the incident.
ASP Hitesh Chowdhary, when contacted, said a complaint had been received and the matter was under investigation.
