Bhopal: Police still clueless about absconding rape accused


Bhopal: The police are still to get an input on the unidentified man accused of raping a 5-year-old girl after abducting her from her house on Saturday night at Nazirabad. A police team had been camping in the village of the victim to find a clue about the absconding accused whose identity was yet to be ascertained, the police said.

Earlier on Monday, the government took notice of the incident after which the district administration announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family members of the victim who is undergoing treatment in a city hospital.

“Three teams comprising 10 cops have already been pressed in the investigations to nab the absconding accused. Apart, one team has been camping in the village to find a clue about the accused by speaking to residents to find if they know something about him. We are also questioning people of nearby villages and people with potential criminal psychology in the area who may have committed the crime,” said SDOP Bairasia, Beena Singh adding the victim was now stable in the hospital where she was undergoing treatment.
“The district administration has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for which it had asked the documents related to the FIR of the incident,” added Singh.

On Saturday at around 11.30 pm, the victim, a resident of a village under Nazirabad was allegedly abducted by an unidentified accused from the verandah of her house where she was sleeping with her family members. She was later raped by him and left at a distance of about 500 metres from her house near a road. She was found by her family members after about one hour, after which she was rushed to a hospital.
