Bhopal: MPEB contractual employees’ union leader dies after heart attack

BHOPAL: A 67-year-old union leader of Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board’s (MPEB) contractual employees’ union died of heart attack on Thursday at TT Nagar. The deceased was present at the ongoing demonstration by MPEB contractual employees to demand their regularisation by the state government in Ambedkar ground.

According to the police, Ramnarayan Dixit, a resident of Jabalpur, had come to the demonstration to address the demonstrators and show his support towards them. In evening, Dixit after addressing the protestors, came down the stage and sat at his position when he suddenly collapsed. The people present around immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Dixit’s son-in-law came from Jabalpur to Bhopal after being informed about the incident. He refused to allow Dixit’s postmortem examination and gave it in writing saying as he had died of a possible heart attack there was no need of it. The police then handed over the body to him after which he left for Jabalpur for his last rites.
