Bhopal: Mobile app for crop ‘girdawari’; Patwari’s ‘basta’ to become history

Bhopal: From this year onwards, information related to crop ‘girdawari’ will be collected through a mobile application. Through this application, patwaris will get information about the khasras of all the landowners of the village. The information of the sown crop will also be available in the village itself.

CM Shivraj Singh launched the mobile app at a function at Samanvay Bhavan on Monday.

He said 10,000 patwaris, 550 tehsildars and 940 naib tehsildars would be recruited soon to meet the shortage of revenue staff. Orders have been issued to complete the recruitment process. The CM announced to provide fund to patwaris for purchase of tabs for using information technology.

On the benefits of mobile app Chouhan said this revolutionary step of the revenue department would lead to the abandonment of the traditional ‘basta’.

Crop girdawari is undertaken twice a year after the sowing of kharif and rabi season and is a process of collecting agriculture statistics on the basis of which information regarding estimate of the crop area and production is prepared.

Figures of rakba sown in kharif and rabi crops are obtained on the basis of crop girdawari. On this basis of production and productivity of chief crops, the agriculture rate of a state and country is fixed.

Through this mobile app, patwaris will acquire information about all khasras of all landowners of the village on their mobile. As soon as the information is uploaded, the farmer will get an SMS notifying him about what information has been registered under crop girdawari in their khasras. This SMS will have a pass code.

If the farmer approves the information uploaded by the patwari, he will tell the pass code to the patwari. The information will be considered final only when the patwari enters the pass code in the application.
