BHOPAL: Kathak and Sitar recital were presented under a series programme ‘Uttaradikar’ at Tribal Museum on Sunday. Based on guru-shishya tradition, the programme was organised by Aadivasi Lokkala Evam Boli Vikas Akademi.
The concert began with joint performance by city-based noted sitarist Smita Nagdev and her disciple Aditi Bhattacharya. They began with Raga Yaman. They presented aalap and jod in vilambit and drut gat. After that, they presented a tune of MP folk song ‘chatke chumdali ho chand…,’ and mesmerised the audience. The programme concluded with kathak dance, presented by disciples of Professor Mandavi Singh of Lucknow gharana. They began with KrishnaVandana ‘Bhaje Vrije Mandalam….’. It was followed by ‘gatbhav’, based on Mohin-Bhasmasur, ‘Kavitt’, thumri based on eternal love of Radha Krishna, ‘Tarana’. They also presented dance, based on ghazal and sufi context in Baithiki Bhav style beautifully, enchanted music lovers.
