BHOPAL: Additional chief secretary (ACS), SR Mohanti got relief from the high court on Monday in the MPSIDC ICD scam case.
The state government had allowed his prosecution in the case and had forwarded the case to the Centre, seeking permission to submit charge-sheet against Mohanti. The high court has sought reply from economic offences wing (EOW) in three days asking whether probe has been initiated afresh as per SC’s order.
The Supreme Court had directed reiinvestigations in Mohanti’s case. The EOW, conducting probe at the behest of the SC, had termed Mohanti guilty. Mohanti;s lawyer submitted evidences in the court claiming that how fresh probe could be conducted when no statements from 17 persons were not recorded since 2011.
The court said that fresh probe should be conducted and the appellant (Mohanti) should be given an opportunity to present his side of the case and evidences in support of his contentions before the probe officer.
