Bhopal: Ghansham Vaswani delights music lovers


BHOPAL: Noted Sindhi singer Ghansham Vaswani presented some film songs and ghazals which delighted music lovers at Rabindra Bhavan on Sunday. It was part of concert ‘Suhina Sindhi’, organised by Sindhi Sahitya Akademi.  Vaswani started off with a popular prayer song ‘etni shakti humein de na data…,’ of film Ankush. After that, he presented a ghazal ‘tumko dekha to ye khyal aaya…,’ on the demand of the audience.

The song was dedicated to ghazal emperor Jagjit Singh.  He also presented some romantic Hindi and Sindhi film songs that enthralled the audience. Meenakshi Vaswani accompanied him on vocal.

Vaswani, who hails from Mumbai, is an artiste of Akashwani and Doordarshan. He has travelled to a number of countries to perform.

He was also invited at Sindhi Sammelans held in the US. He has sung and composed music for the popular Sindhi dance ballet ‘Sindh Muhinjee Amma’ (Sindh Is My Mother). He is much sought after artiste at most Sindhi cultural programmes. After having initial training from his father Santdas Vaswani (who was also a great Sindhi & classical singer), he received further comprehensive training from renowned stalwarts like Jagjit Singh, Sushila Pohankar and Pt Rajaram Shukla.
