Bhopal: Ayush JUDA threatens to intensify protest

Bhopal: Junior doctors of Ayurveda colleges and colleges of allied wings working under directorate of Ayush (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) has alleged step motherly treatment from state government.

Demanding hike in stipend and other facilities, the junior doctors on Thursday sported black badges during their duty hours. To bring to notice of the government and other authorities, the protestors also distributed flowers to patients. The junior doctors have threatened to follow the course taken by JUDA of Government Medical Colleges if their demands were not addressed.

Junior doctors of Government Medical Colleges had recently gone on strike over stipend hike. Demanding hike in stipend, the protesting doctors said that , currently, Ayush juniors doctors were paid Rs 23 as stipends, while their counterparts in other states like Uttar Pradesh were receiving Rs 62,000. In 2013, the government had increased their stipend but since then, the college fee has been raised three fold, they said.


Meanwhile, a number of posts of professors are lying vacant at Ayurveda colleges. The government had assured recruitment of 700 teachers in the colleges but so far no steps have been initiative in this direction.

Accusing government of giving step motherly treatment, the protesting Ayush doctors said that should be treated at par with junior doctors of various government medical colleges. Ayush department joint director Dr Satish Sharma said juniors doctors handed over memorandum mentioning the demands and we have forwarded it to finance department for consideration.’’’
