Bhopal: A team of Military Intelligence (MI) from Indian army’s Lucknow-based Central Command raided the office of a Lt Colonel posted at army base headquarters in Jabalpur on Monday on the suspicion that he might have been caught in a honey trap laid by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The team has seized computers and documents from the premises and is intensively interrogating the officer.
The MI was keeping an eye on the officer for some time after it was revealed that that approximately Rs 1 crore was credited to his bank account. It is suspected that the officer might have fallen prey to ISI’s honey trap. However, it is still not clear whether the case pertains to graft or to supply of confidential information to Pakistan’s spying agency.
Sources said that he may be taken to Lucknow for further interrogation. It is also being probed whether the officer passed on any vital information to a foreign agency through email.
Last week, Group Captain Arun Marwah of Indian Air Force was arrested on the charge of espionage from Delhi. Marwah is believed to have leaked crucial information to ISI. He was trapped by an ISI agent posing as a woman through chatting on social media sites. Marwah was sent to judicial custody for 14 days on Tuesday.
