BHOPAL: The district administration on Thursday asked the school administrations and the school bus service providers to install Global Positioning System (GPS) enabled real-time tracking devices by April 15. It also warned them that if they failed to do so, they would be penalised accordingly.

The officials announced the last date of the installation of the device while conducting the final session of the orientation programme regarding installation of GPS enabled real-time tracking devices in school buses running in the district on Thursday at the collectorate here.

The administration has decided to install these devices in school buses to ensure the safety of school children traveling in them. The administration would install the tracking devices in all the school buses coming under the district administration.

“Today was the last session of the orientation programme conducted by the administration to enable the school bus operators and the school administrations to understand the dynamics of the whole system. We had sent an open invitation to attend the final session in which today there were about 30 people present including five to six school bus service providers,” said sub-divisional magistrate Disha Nagvanshi, who headed the session, adding that before this the administration had conducted about seven to eight sessions.

Speaking to Free Press she said the administration would soon launch a website in which every school administration and school bus service provider would put up the necessary information for proper implementation of the tracking system. “We have given enough time to comply with the administration’s decision. After April 16, we would not listen anything and start penalising the offenders,” added Nagvanshi.
