82-yr-old man duped of Rs 13,000

BHOPAL : A retired man was duped to the tune of Rs 13,000 when he was trying to manage the wads of notes in GPO at Royal Market, after withdrawing the same.

Victim, 82-year-old Mohammand Anees Khan, a resident of Ginnori, had gone to withdraw money from the GPO where after withdrawing Rs 49,000, he was counting the notes.

A man in his early 30s approached him and said that few of his notes were counterfeit and that he would have to replace them.


The incident took place at around 12 pm and the police have obtained CCTV footage of the area where the incident is visible.

There were several incidents reported in the past where similar modus operandi was used by burglars to dupe elderly persons in the name of offering help.

A man was arrested for duping an elderly by replacing his ATM card when the later had gone to withdraw money from the ATM.
