Continuing its aggressive marketing strategy, Mercedes-Benz is heading for yet another launch in India – of the facelifted CLA – on November 30. The compact executive car was unveiled earlier this year and features a host of intelligent tweaks. The car gets subtle changes at both the front and the rear. On the front façade, it boasts a diamond pin radiator grille and a new front bumper having a range of trim strip options. At the rear, the LED taillights have been reworked, whereas the chrome-tipped exhausts are fused nicely with the bumper.
Moreover, we might also get the CLA in the ‘cavansite blue metallic’ shade which is on offer in its international models. With respect to optional features, there is a new set of wheels, LED headlamps, hands-free access to the boot via motion sensor and others on offer.
The modifications aren’t limited to just the exterior. The CLA facelift gets an updated instrument cluster and chrome-garnished controls, along with new upholstery and trim parts. Also on offer is an 8-inch, free standing, slim infotainment system having Audio 20 USB and Audio 20 CD with Apple CarPlay.
Under the hood, the Merc offers 11 different engines in its global line-up. However, the Indian version is highly unlikely to feature all of those and will continue with the current petrol and diesel options. That said, the petrol is powered by a 2.0-litre inline 4-cylinder motor generating 183PS and 300Nm, while the diesel CLA 220d gets a 2.1-litre engine churning out 136PS and 300Nm. A seven-speed automatic gearbox is linked to both the engines.
First introduced worldwide in January 2013 at the North American International Auto Show, the Mercedes-Benz CLA has been a runaway success with more than 1 lakh cars plying on international roads. Let’s see how the facelifted version is able to perform on Indian turf.
